Emad Yuzbashian, a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate at the University of Alberta, is an outstanding researcher who specializes in nutritional science, metabolic regulation, and nutritional epidemiology. During his Ph.D. program in human nutrition, Emad specializes in studying the impact of dietary interventions on metabolic health, notably obesity and associated metabolic diseases. His research focuses on basic science and translational techniques, with the goal of bridging the gap between bench and bedside. Over the past decade, he has worked at the Nutrition and Endocrine Research Center, where he has contributed to a range of research projects, including the prospective cohort study of the Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study and various clinical trials. Emad is particularly interested in the complex interaction between food, gut microbiota, and host metabolism, as well as in nutritional epidemiology, which seeks to understand population-wide dietary trends and their correlations with adverse health effects. Emad’s scholarly excellence has been recognized through prestigious awards such as the Alberta Diabetes Institute (ADI)/International Helmholtz Research School for Diabetes (HRD) Award. His academic journey is further distinguished by numerous scholarships and accolades, underscoring his commitment to advancing the field of nutrition.
