Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Shaping Tomorrow's Leaders Trainee Symposium

This symposium is focused on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), designed specifically for trainees aspiring to be catalysts for positive change in their fields. This symposium offers a unique opportunity to explore and discuss the critical importance of EDI in shaping inclusive and equitable futures. Through interactive and thought-provoking roundtable discussions, participants will examine various aspects of EDI, including understanding allyship, recognizing implicit biases, and fostering inclusive environments. Attendees will gain valuable insights, practical strategies, and tools to champion EDI principles in their academic and professional endeavors. This symposium provides a platform to deepen your understanding of EDI and cultivate the skills needed to drive meaningful change. This event is supported by the CIHR INMD Training and Community Support Grant.

Speaker/Chair Bio:

Jenna is a Metis Master's student pursuing her degree in Health Sciences with focuses in Leadership and Teaching through the University of Athabasca. She has 3+ years of working experience within Indigenous health research in association with the University of Lethbridge, the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta. Jenna's passion lies working in nurtition related diseases and their impact on Indigenous communities and its peoples. As a trainee member within the EDI committee, she hopes to gain the necessary exposure to continue her support towards Indigenous advocacy.
